The very first vehicles manufactured by Joseph-Armand Bombardier, the inventor of Ski-Doo snowmobiles, were tracked vehicles used for work. Today, thousands of people rely on Ski-Doo snowmobiles for their livelihood. It’s a segment that BRP cares deeply about, an interest that’s hard to miss with the 2018 Ski-Doo Skandic snowmobiles.

Skandic models aren’t just adaptations of recreational models with a wider track – they’re specifically designed for the job. Long, wide tracks allow them to float on deep snow or pull a trail grader sled. The skid plate and front telescopic suspension are specially designed to glide over snow and obstacles when it’s time to break trail. The low-speed Synchromesh transmission is especially useful when pulling heavy loads, and the SC-5U rear suspension has an articulated rear section that can be raised to allow for efficient backing in deep snow.

Because they depend on their vehicle every day, utility snowmobile owners place a high value on the engine. That’s why BRP equips Skandic models with its most reliable and durable Rotax engines. There’s the 600 H.O. E-TEC 2-stroke engine, and the highly efficient 900 ACE and 600 ACE 4-stroke engines. The ACE engines are equipped with the Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) system, which includes several very interesting features, such as the learning key. With the learning key, maximum speed and acceleration can be limited electronically – an ideal tool for rental companies. The 550 Fan 2-stroke air-cooled version will please the price-conscious consumer.

SUSPENSION
SC-5U Rear Suspension: For a sophisticated yet comfortable ride on and off the trail. Features an articulating rail that offers two settings: free and locked. The free position reduces the footprint on the trail for easier turning and better fuel economy, while providing more efficient reverse in deep snow. The locked position provides maximum traction and flotation for towing and off-trail driving.

LTS Front Suspension: The telescopic suspension and large front shell are the main elements responsible for the unmatched deep snow capabilities of this snowmobile.

Pilot DS 2 Skis with 10″ sole: Center-keel skis that offer excellent sidecut performance while the thin edges bite into the snow more. Narrower, thinner and stiffer skis. The ski section behind the leg is shorter and flatter in shape to reduce the effort required for countersteering. Removable 10″ (25.4 cm) soles provide increased flotation.

Massive 24″ x 156″ x 1.25″ (61 cm x 396 m x 3.2 cm) track: Exceptional flotation and towing capacity. 1.25″ (3.2 cm) profile.

Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) (900 ACE): Unique in the industry, this electronically controlled system offers several options, including three driving modes that can be selected without stopping the vehicle (Sport, Standard and ECO) and a learning key that limits speed for less experienced drivers. Not to mention the instant response and reduced finger or thumb fatigue.

Finger Throttle (900 ACE): The throttle lever can be swung forward without tools to become a finger throttle, depending on the operator’s preference.

Synchromesh Transmission: Includes two forward gears and one reverse gear for smooth starts when pulling heavy loads. Exclusive BRP capability to shift from 1 to 2 without stopping the vehicle.

eDrive 2 Pulley (900 ACE): Designed specifically for 4-stroke performance engines, this pulley features 6 arms and 12 runners that distribute torque to reduce inertia, provide instant response and extend the life of the pulley and belt components.
