2017 Yamaha Phazer R-TX
Show us another 500cc 4-stroke with the power of our Phazer, and we’ll show you a trick snowmobile. Quite simply, when it comes to affordable machines with generous doses of performance and reliability, nothing beats our Phazer R-TX. With its Fox FLOAT front amortos, upright riding position and explosive engine power curve, the Phazer R-TX is one of the most fun snowmobiles you can have in the snow.
Power in the wild
The Genesis 80FI – light, reliable and fun – uses its high tech and 80 HP to dazzle on both groomed trails and uncharted terrain. This responsive twin delivers massive amounts of torque and accelerates like a true sportsman! The advanced fuel injection system ensures that the engine always produces optimum power and consumes fuel efficiently, depending on the conditions.
Weight overboard!
Even with an electric starter, the Phazer is still one of the lightest of the liquid-cooled snowmobiles. Oh… and it’s as fast as lightning and as obedient as a child in a picture!
Advanced driving position
The high, narrow seat is paired with forward-tilted handlebars, just like our YZ – our popular dirt bike. So you’re in an ultra-sporty position without looking like you’re attacking.

The R-TX’s rear suspension has two amortos, one of which – a high-performance, ratcheting one that uses a detached reservoir – makes it easy to adjust to suit your tastes.
Amortos pneumatic fox(®) float to the front
The Phazer R-TX is equipped with FOX Float shocks in its front quarter. Housed in a lightweight aluminum body, a nitrogen-charged floating piston works in concert with the air spring to reduce weight and dampen the heaviest impacts. They reduce the weight of the snowmobile by three pounds, compared to regular coil springs. They can be individually adjusted using the small air pump that comes with the snowmobile.
LCD indicators
Large, easy-to-read gauge cluster to monitor engine speed and performance. The intensity of the heated grips and thumb warmer settings are also indicated.
Camoplast® track 121 x 14 x 1 inches
The Phazer RTX runs on a 14-inch wide Camoplast® Ripsaw® track with 1-inch long lugs. This track is lighter than the traditional 15-inch track and is focused on performance and maneuverability. It also allows for a tighter fit, which contributes to the advanced ergonomics of each snowmobile.
Tuner Skis
Tuner dual-keel skis greatly reduce wobble, and offer a host of carbide stringer adjustments (from stringer to bite).

The high-performance sport engine – light, reliable and fun – uses its high-tech, 80-horsepower power to dazzle on both groomed trails and uncharted terrain. Advanced fuel injection
The performance-packed sport engine uses an advanced fuel injection system to control the flow of fuel to the engine. Sport enthusiasts will love the exemplary performance and crisp throttle response that comes with it.
Lightweight balanced crankshaft
The performance sport engine’s crankshaft is designed to be light, responsive and durable. With counterweights, it delivers crisp throttle response and lightning-fast acceleration. It also helps reduce the vibrations that often plague twin-cylinder engines.
Slightly open exhaust towards the rear
Exhaust gases from the performance sport engine are expelled at the rear of the snowmobile, like other Genesis 4-stroke packages. The specific design of this exhaust serves three purposes: First, it draws exhaust heat away from the engine compartment – this is what allows the compact design of the engine. Second, it allows the engine to perform a very efficient gas exchange through a cooled exhaust. Finally, it helps balance the entire snowmobile, enhancing the Phazer X-TX’s quick handling.
14 x 144 x 1.5 inch Camoplast® Freeride? track
The Phazer X-TX features a Camoplast Freeride track with 1.5-inch high lugs. This hybrid “finger” track is ideal for the variable conditions that occur on cross-country rides. It performs well on groomed trails and freshly fallen snow. Its large footprint maximizes flotation in deep snow, while providing superb trail performance.
Radiator and front extrusion
To ensure consistent performance worthy of their muscular engine, all Genesis 80FI-equipped snowmobiles also feature a small radiator on the right side of the engine compartment as well as a front extrusion. The small radiator multiplies the cooling efficiency of the snowmobile, which extends the life of the engine. It also improves the handling of the vehicle by relocating the mass of a heat exchanger to the center of the snowmobile.
Oil pressure sensor
The Phazer X-TX is equipped with an oil pressure gauge. If the oil pressure drops while driving, the fuel supply and ignition are controlled to restrict the engine speed and reduce the engine load. If necessary, the sensor shuts down the engine.
2017 Yamaha Phazer M-TX
The Phazer M-TX is perfectly at home in the wilderness, asking nothing more than to carve its way through the backcountry. Its upright ergonomics and nimble handling give the rider and his mount plenty of freedom of movement, while the high-performance, fuel-injected Genesis sport engine is more than happy to go full throttle. Add to the package Yamaha’s stellar reputation for quality, durability and reliability, and it’s safe to say that the Yamaha Phazer M-TX is one of the easiest and most entertaining snowmobiles to ride in the mountains.
