SIDI Adventure 2 Boots Review: The Perfect Compromise for a Dual-Purpose Boot!

SIDI Adventure 2 Boots Review

– PUBLICITÉ –

For long road trips as well as technical off-road riding, finding a hybrid boot often feels like an impossible compromise. You want the protection of a motocross boot, but you also need to be able to walk comfortably on the open road. It’s precisely on this fine line of trade-offs that the SIDI Adventure 2 boots come into view. Through changing weather and rugged, technical terrain, here’s our full review.

Well-Thought-Out Design and Construction

Visually, the SIDI Adventure 2 boots clearly signal their dual purpose. A boot that strikes a balance between comfort and stiffness. The manufacturer has moved away from traditional leather in favor of a suede and microfiber upper, with plastic reinforcements to add stiffness where it matters most. The result: a lighter boot that doesn’t lose its shape over time and requires minimal maintenance.

The strategically placed plastic sections make the boot stiffer.

To fasten the boots, SIDI uses two micrometric buckles borrowed from the world of motocross. They are, of course, adjustable and replaceable in case of long-term wear and tear. At the top, a wide Velcro flap ensures a snug fit around the calf while remaining very comfortable.

The malleolus protection is ideal thanks to the reinforcements. And we can’t overlook the anti-torsion pivot system at the ankle. It adjusts well to the rider’s position on the motorcycle while offering exemplary safety.

100% Gore-Tex Membrane

The standout feature of this boot is its 100% waterproof Gore-Tex membrane. I tested them in heavy rain on the highway and even crossed streams while riding off-road. The verdict is that they’re completely waterproof. Your feet stay dry! Plus, the membrane offers good breathability and prevents the “sauna” effect.

Off-Road Mode

Where most “adventure” boots are just road boots in disguise, SIDI stands out… This is certainly thanks to the articulated ankle pivot system. This technology provides excellent lateral stiffness. If the motorcycle lands on your leg during a fall, the mechanism absorbs the impact while preventing ankle torsion. Despite this, it retains the flexibility needed to operate the brake levers and shift gears.

The sole provides good grip on slippery footpegs or when you need to push the bike through mud.

Strengths and Areas for Improvement

Here’s a table that quickly summarizes the strengths and some areas for improvement.

StrenghsAreas for improvement
Enhanced ankle protection with the pivot systemThe “break-in” period is pretty hard. It takes quite a while to feel comfortable and for the shoe to mold to the shape of your foot.
Impeccable waterproofing and breathability with the Gore-Tex membraneThe plastic squeaks at the pivot mechanism when you walk. A little silicone-based lubricant should fix the problem.
A true hybrid boot option for both the road and adventureIn a fairly high price range.

In conclusion

If you’re looking for a boot that offers the perfect balance between the stiffness of a motocross boot and the comfort of a street boot… The SIDI Adventure 2 boots are worth considering. They aren’t the cheapest boots on the market. However, they’re a top choice for anyone who wants to ride both on the road and off the beaten path.
