For 30 years now, Cyclope trailers have accompanied Quebec motorcyclists on their adventures on roads near and far. In 2025, the company began a new chapter with the arrival of its new owner, Ghislain Brouillard, a passionate entrepreneur who intends to preserve the brand’s legacy while shaping its future.

An Acquisition Based on Trust in the Product

A former aeronautics technician with a background in agriculture, Ghislain Brouillard had been looking for a manufacturing project for several years. The opportunity arose when he discovered Cyclope Trailers, a company founded in 1996 in the Saint-Aimé region of Montérégie, near Sorel-Tracy.

Even before considering the purchase, he took the time to test the product and meet with customers at trade shows in Quebec City and Montreal.

“Interacting with users and the extremely positive feedback I received convinced me that I had a unique product on my hands,” he explains.

The deal was finalized in the spring of 2025, and the entrepreneur immediately set to work ensuring a smooth transition and preserving the expertise developed over the years.

Still 100% Made in Quebec

Now based in Yamaska, the company continues its operations in a workshop where every trailer is assembled locally.

Quebec-based subcontractors manufacture certain specialized parts, but final assembly, inspection, and quality control take place on-site.

“We work with experts in our region for machined parts, laser cutting, baked paint, and fiber components. Then, everything is assembled here. It’s a product we’re proud of, and it’s truly made in Quebec,” emphasizes Brouillard.

This approach allows Cyclope to maintain a high level of quality while contributing to the local economy.

A Trailer Designed for Travel

The Cyclope trailer is ideal for travel.

Cyclope’s concept is simple: to design a practical trailer for motorcyclists without altering their motorcycle’s handling characteristics.

The goal is to maintain a low center of gravity to minimize the impact on acceleration, braking, and cornering.

The current lineup consists of:

Cyclope 1

  • Weight: 20 kg
  • Payload: 36 kg
  • Volume: approximately 118 liters

Cyclope 2

  • Weight: 25 kg
  • Maximum load: 55 kg
  • Volume: 215 liters

All trailers feature their own suspension, 10-inch wheels, and an electrical system—a major advantage for long-distance riders.

Rigorous Standards

Contrary to what one might think, a motorcycle trailer must meet numerous safety standards.

When he took over the company, Ghislain Brouillard had to renew all certifications with Transport Canada to ensure product compliance.

Lighting, reflectors, serial numbers, tire dimensions, and technical documentation: everything must comply with current regulations.

This compliance offers two benefits: user safety and the preservation of the Cyclope trailers’ value.

Motorcycle Adventure on the Horizon

The top priority for 2026 is the Cyclope X, a new model targeting the booming motorcycle adventure market.

This model will replace the traditional fiberglass body with a more scalable design, offering significantly more ground clearance and customization options.

“The needs of adventure motorcyclists are different,” explains the owner. “Often, they’re looking for a trailer that’s more adaptable to their gear and the type of expedition.” Other improvements are also planned, including the addition of new locking systems and accessories in response to customer requests.

An Increasingly Diverse Customer Base

While long-distance travelers still form the core of Cyclope’s customer base, the profile of its users is changing rapidly.

Today, the customer base includes motorcyclists of all ages: young adventurers, retired couples, groups of friends, and even owners who travel with their dogs.

This diversity reflects the steady growth of motorcycle tourism in Quebec and across the rest of Canada.

Our customer base is very diverse.

“People want to travel longer, farther, and more comfortably. Our trailers allow them to bring the necessary gear while still enjoying the thrill of riding their motorcycles,” says Brouillard.

Impressive Compatibility

One of the major advantages of Cyclope trailers is their compatibility with the vast majority of motorcycles.

According to the owner, nearly 98% of the models on the market can be adapted to one of the hitch systems offered by the company.

From scooters to large-displacement touring motorcycles, solutions exist to meet most needs.

Looking to the Future

After showcasing his products at several trade shows across Canada, Ghislain Brouillard is now looking to the future.

The goal is to continue developing new models and expanding the distribution network to make Cyclope trailers accessible to more motorcyclists across the country.

One thing, however, remains unchanged: the commitment to maintaining the quality and artisanal spirit that have built Cyclope’s reputation for nearly three decades.

Motorcyclists can contact the company directly through its website—https://remorquecyclope.ca/—or its Facebook page to learn more or inquire about the different models.

Thus, after 30 years in business, Cyclope continues on its path with the same philosophy: to offer motorcycle enthusiasts a simple, safe, and efficient way to travel farther.
