Testing the Kimpex 85L UTV Trunk for SxS

Kimpex 85L UTV Trunk for SxS

– PUBLICITÉ –

This trunk appeared to be a good fit for installation in a Polaris RZR XP 1000 based on the photos in the Kimpex catalog. We decided to test it on a 2024 RZR XP 1000. To our surprise, we found that the trunk did not fit properly in the vehicle’s cargo area. A quick search online reminded us that Polaris made changes to the RZR XP 1000’s body in 2024, specifically altering the shape of the cargo bed. We sourced two older RZR XP 1000s, a 2019 and a 2021 model. The trunk fit perfectly in the cargo bed of the older RZRs. This is something to keep in mind if you’re interested in this trunk and want a perfect fit.

Overall Product Review

After trying out this Kimpex 85-liter trunk, I can honestly say it’s an accessory worth considering. Right from installation, you’ll notice that the size is practically perfect for this type of ATV. The trunk fits the available space very well without looking bulky, while still looking great on the machine. The fit is solid and inspires confidence, even for those who use their UTV in more demanding conditions.

Some highlights of the Kimpex 85L UTV trunk

One of the features I particularly appreciate is the ability to lock the trunk. Having a system that allows you to secure your gear provides valuable peace of mind, especially when you temporarily leave the vehicle unattended while hiking, camping, or taking a break. Additionally, the presence of three anchor points that can accommodate a lock adds an extra layer of security, demonstrating that the product was designed for real-world use in the field.

The trunk can be locked.

Another highlight: the top of the trunk allows you to securely mount a gas can. This option is extremely practical for long trips, as it frees up even more space inside while allowing you to carry extra fuel safely. It’s a detail that can make all the difference for those who like to venture far without worrying about range.

There’s still room in the bed to fit a 10-liter gas can on the outside, or a Rotopax-style can on the lid if you prefer.

In terms of capacity, the 85 liters provide plenty of storage space. Whether you’re carrying tools, clothes, hunting or fishing gear, or simply the essentials for a full day on the trail, the available space is more than sufficient. The trunk really gives the impression that you can bring everything without having to play Tetris every time you pack for a trip.

The storage space is a good size. Note the waterproof seal around the lid.

What I also noticed after handling it several times is the overall build quality. The plastic feels sturdy, the hinges inspire confidence, and the latch mechanism operates smoothly. Kimpex has equipped the trunk with a rubberized seal around the lid. So, in muddy, dusty, or rainy conditions, the trunk continues to do its job well and effectively protects the contents from the elements.

Conclusion

In summary, after this test on a 2021 Polaris RZR XP 1000, this trunk combines ideal size, security, versatility, and excellent storage capacity. The ability to lock it, add a gas can on top, and take advantage of multiple tie-down points makes it, in my opinion, an excellent investment for ATV enthusiasts looking for a sturdy, practical, and well-designed product.
