Table des matières

Boots are certainly one of the key pieces of equipment for a successful snowmobile outing. It is crucial to choose boots that combine comfort, durability, waterproofing and grip. After testing several models, here is one that stands out from the crowd. The CKX Colchester Pro boots, which have proven to be effective both on and off-trail.

Comfort

First of all, the CKX Colchester Pro boots offer excellent comfort with an insulation rating down to -60°C. There is also additional padded support for the Achilles tendon and calf. A reinforced structure provides more rigidity when standing on the footrests. This makes them excellent for aggressive riding on trails as well as in the mountains. On the other hand, they make us walk funny because of their solidity, which is similar to ski boots.

Waterproofing and resistance to weather conditions

The synthetic leather exterior provides excellent protection against the wind and is also very resistant. This is excellent for off-piste snowmobiling as well as for long-term durability. The boots are completely waterproof with the use of a waterproof membrane. This keeps feet dry, even in the wettest conditions.

The model is well padded on the inside, with optimal foot and ankle support thanks to its EVA sole. The inner lining (sock) can be removed entirely to dry it after a long, intense day. This contributes greatly to comfort when riding for several days in a row, as it effectively eliminates all traces of moisture.

Quick-adjust metal laces.

To ensure an optimal and very fast fit, CKX Colchester Pro boots do away with classic textile laces. Instead, they use the ATOP system: a quick metal lace system that allows for precise adjustment. With the rotary knob, a few turns are all it takes to adjust the boot perfectly to the foot. In short, a system strongly inspired by the BOA system found on other brands.

The ATOP system adjusts in two distinct areas (top of the foot and shin) for a well-balanced fit. That is to say, not too tight to avoid pressure points, nor too loose to prevent heat loss.

Grip and stability

The sole of the CKX Colchester Pro boots provides good traction for a firm grip on the running boards. At the same time, they offer good durability against these same running boards, which often wear out the soles too quickly.

The sole is a good width and, combined with the reinforced structure of the boot, provides excellent stability. Despite this, you still have a good “feel” in the boot to sense where you are leaning on the snowmobile. This contributes to stability, a crucial element in off-piste driving to avoid missteps.

Who are these boots for?

The CKX Colchester Pro boots are primarily intended for mountain or trail snowmobilers with a fast pace. With their rigid construction, they do not offer as much comfort and insulation as a boot exclusively for the trail.

On the other hand, one of the most important criteria for choosing off-trail snowmobile boots is their ability to offer optimal protection. These boots are robust, shock-resistant and offer protection against impacts. These are the essential elements to guarantee your comfort during your snowmobile adventures.
