CFMOTO stands out as one of the most dynamic off-road vehicle manufacturers when it comes to new products. For 2025, the brand has announced an overhaul of its large-displacement ATV range. Promising significant improvements and new features. We had the opportunity to test the CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 models. We couldn’t wait to share our impressions with you.
Design and fit and finish quality
At first glance, it’s easy to identify the family resemblance with the latest generation of CFORCE 400, 500 and 600 models. However, several distinctive features and an even more premium look stand out. This is particularly true of the CFORCE 1000’s lighting signature. We’re treated to a bright, contrasting line that runs from edge to edge across the grille. The same applies to the rear. This is the main visual distinction between the CFORCE 800 and 1000.
As we take a look around the vehicle, we can’t help but notice the excellent quality of the finish, which continues to improve. The Chinese manufacturer has come a long way in 15 years. It can even boast that it is now playing in the big league. Everything fits together perfectly and the attention to detail is meticulous.
To provide the rider with all the information he needs, a 7” TFT color display is conveniently positioned at the front. Handlebar controls make it easy to navigate.
Revamped mechanics and improvements
This new generation doesn’t come with an all-new powertrain. In fact, the CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 have been redesigned. There are two twin-cylinder engines. The CFORCE 1000 is powered by a 963 cm3 V-twin. With 84 hp and 62 lb*ft of torque, it’s a high-performance machine.
As for the CFORCE 800, it’s powered by an 800 cm3 V-engine offering 70 HP and 51 lb*ft of torque. The 800 really comes into its own with this performance. On the other hand, when you want to keep a reserve of power, the CFORCE 1000 really shines. It remains to be seen which one will suit us better, considering the price difference.
CFMOTO CVT transmission
What’s really different on the mechanical front is the CVT transmission, now manufactured directly by CFMOTO. In the past, CVTech-IBC was the official supplier for the vehicles. Recently, however, the automaker has decided to produce the vast majority of these components itself. This is the case for the transmission, but we know that CVTech-IBC is still behind the calibrations. Incidentally, we must mention the clutch smoothness and optimum performance delivered by the transmissions. As for the transmission’s long-term reliability, only time will tell.
3 distinct driving modes
When you start the vehicle, you can now choose between three driving modes (Work, Normal and Sport). These modes are used to adjust throttle responsiveness and fuel injection mapping. In short, you can play with the engine’s performance to avoid having an over-reactive vehicle. When you want to use it for low-speed work, for example. Whatever the circumstances: climbing steep slopes, navigating muddy terrain, sand, etc. The CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025will always be there with their generous power.
2 more new features coming with the new generation
For 2025, CFORCE models now offer Dynamic Downhill Assist. This device is really effective when maneuvering at very low speeds, as the vehicle manages the maneuver on its own. The result is a smooth descent. We no longer have to worry about keeping the belt engaged, to use the engine brake. Everything is managed automatically now.
Another new feature for 2025: the electronic power steering is now adjustable in four positions. This means you can opt for maximum assistance during slow maneuvers. Or very light assistance for sporty driving, to maintain optimum steering precision. That’s what counts for so much in this range of large-displacement ATVs.
New side panels
Improvements that may seem insignificant are often those that have the greatest impact. The new side panels enclose the engine compartment, as it were. This helps reduce unwanted noise. What’s more, the side panels serve to reduce the heat emitted towards the driver. With fresh air flowing from the front to the wheels, heat is pushed to the rear. Comfort is greatly improved.
Suspensions
This latest generation of CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 does not introduce a completely new suspension geometry. We seem to have retained the same architecture that performs well. That is, a double-wishbone front suspension. At the rear, there’s a swingarm. These suspensions provide 9“ of travel front and rear, and 11” of ground clearance. These technical data are certainly interesting. However, we note that the competition offers more, and we would have hoped for more travel.
The gas-charged shock absorbers are equipped with an external auxiliary reservoir for enhanced performance. They are fully adjustable for preload, rebound and descent. They allow you to configure your ATV to suit the type of terrain or task at hand.
Riding impressions
It’s time to get on the CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025. A spacious, well-padded seat makes for a comfortable ride. Ergonomics are well thought out, offering a natural riding position. The handlebars are perfectly adjusted for a dynamic yet relaxed ride. Handles and controls are within easy reach, with an intuitive layout that facilitates access to all functions. In fact, all controls have been redesigned for this new generation.
From the very first kilometers, it’s clear that power is transmitted efficiently thanks to the new transmission and driving modes. You can feel the cavalry available, which is gradually deployed until it reaches its maximum at the end of the rpm range. Of course, acceleration is breathtaking on the CFORCE 1000, but not so on the CFORCE 800. In fact, one might well ask why choose the CFORCE 1000 over the CFORCE 800? If you’re planning to ride on trails with speed limits, the difference is imperceptible. On the other hand, if you’re riding on wide logging roads, the CFORCE 1000 makes perfect sense.
Comfort and handling
During our tests on a variety of surfaces, I was impressed by the comfort of the suspension. You can feel how well the shock absorbers absorb shocks and provide optimum ride comfort. Whether on rocky or muddy roads, this reduces fatigue during long outings. At the same time, it improves vehicle control.
In some specific situations where I pushed the vehicle harder, I could have hoped for more travel. However, I have to mention that this was more outside the scope of a multi-purpose vehicle. CFORCEs are not designed for 100% sports use. The new CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 are therefore forgiven.
Now for handling. It’s worth mentioning that handling has been greatly improved over the previous version. It’s precise and, above all, configurable with adjustable power steering. This enhances comfort while providing optimal control. This makes tight turns easy, even at high speeds. I was particularly impressed by its stability during fast maneuvers.
Versatility
The CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 are designed for both work and pleasure. You could even indulge in a bit of sporty riding. But these ATVs are a reminder of their utility and versatility. With sturdy frames that push the scales over 1000 lbs, their sturdiness is unquestionable. Even so, they offer a dynamic driving experience while allowing you to excel from a work perspective. The 1746 lb (800 kg) towing capacity is testimony to this, and CFORCEs are ideal for carrying heavy loads.
Highlights
- Revamped engines deliver excellent performance (1000: 84 HP and 800: 70 HP). As an added bonus, there are three driving modes to make the most of this power.
- Fully-adjustable suspensions that can offer great comfort or firmness for sporty driving.
- Updated styling with enhanced finish quality.
- High towing capacity of 800 kg (1764 lb).
Points for improvement
- The turning circle, which is very large for squeezing through narrow paths… or for performing an “u-turn”, for example. Lack of pressure on the front axle, which results in a loss of traction.
- The overall weight of the vehicle becomes insane for an ATV (1000: 1014 lb and 800: 1010 lb). It’s a good thing performance is only going up as well, to move such a large machine.
- We would have liked a little more travel to keep up with the competition.
- Retail prices rising with the arrival of a new generation. At the time of writing ($16,999 for the CFORCE 1000 and $15,399 for the CFORCE 800).
Conclusion
Certainly, the new-generation CFMOTO CFORCE 800 and 1000 2025 take the driving experience up a notch. It boasts a host of new technological features, an enhanced level of finish quality and undeniable driving pleasure. CFMOTO is shaping up to be an innovative manufacturer, offering interesting competition. And that’s a good thing for ATV riders, who can take full advantage. Now it’s up to you to choose among these ATVs, which are becoming more and more powerful and versatile.
