Once again this year, we greatly appreciate our collaboration with Can-Am. For several years now, we have had the opportunity to test a number of models from the Quebec manufacturer’s three-wheel lineup, and that tradition continues with the highly regarded 2026 Can-Am Spyder F3 Limited Special Series.
This model is the best-equipped version of the F3 lineup for 2026. When it comes to a well-equipped vehicle, it is difficult to ask for more. Designed for two occupants and built for long-distance touring, the Spyder F3 Limited Special Series focuses above all on comfort, performance and entertainment. Whether it is a day trip or a journey of several hundred kilometres, everything is in place to deliver a premium riding experience.
What’s New for 2026
Can-Am is keeping things relatively quiet this year when it comes to updates to the Spyder F3 Limited Special Series. Compared with the previous model, the changes are limited to two items.
The first update is an exclusive new colour: Mars Red Metallic, which gives the vehicle an even more elegant and distinctive appearance.
The second update is the addition of auxiliary LED lights at the front, significantly improving visibility when riding in the evening or at night. It is a simple improvement, but one that long-distance touring enthusiasts will greatly appreciate.
Powertrain
Under the hood, nothing has changed, and that is far from bad news. Can-Am continues to rely on its proven 1,330 cc Rotax ACE three-cylinder engine, known for its reliability, smoothness and excellent durability.
This engine produces 115 hp and 96 lb-ft of torque, delivering strong acceleration and impressive passing power, even when the vehicle is loaded for a long two-up trip.
The engine is liquid-cooled and fed by electronic fuel injection, while the electronic throttle (Ride-by-Wire) delivers a precise, progressive response in all riding conditions.
The result is a smooth, refined powertrain that remains quiet on the highway, offers enough power for confident passing and provides excellent comfort during long days in the saddle.
This powertrain is paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission (SE6) with reverse, which is operated at your fingertips and requires no clutch lever.
Suspension
The suspension remains one of the Spyder F3 Limited Special Series’ strong points. At the front, an independent double A-arm suspension with an anti-roll bar provides excellent stability through corners while effectively absorbing road imperfections.
At the rear, the swingarm is fitted with an automatically adjustable air shock, a feature especially appreciated when switching between solo riding and two-up touring with luggage. The system automatically adjusts the ride height and firmness to maintain stable, predictable handling.
This combination provides an excellent level of comfort, reduces fatigue over long distances and inspires confidence on both winding roads and long highway stretches.
Advanced Technology and Infotainment
The centre console is dominated by a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Completely redesigned, it features integrated BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay connectivity, allowing you to display your navigation apps, contacts and playlists directly on the screen.
Sound is delivered by a premium six-speaker audio system, with speakers strategically positioned in the front section and passenger area.
The major technology upgrade for 2026 is the addition of a standard rearview camera, with static guidelines displayed on the screen to make parking manoeuvres easier and help the rider park with confidence.
Premium Comfort and Touring Capacity
Designed for long journeys, the Special Series stands out with carefully considered ergonomics:
- A removable, fold-down rider backrest that makes it easier for the passenger to climb aboard.
- Standard heated grips for both rider and passenger.
- Integrated floorboards for a relaxed cruiser-style riding position.
- A fixed sport windshield providing good aerodynamic protection.
Total storage capacity is 139.5 litres (36.8 gallons). It includes a watertight front storage compartment, a glovebox with a USB port, hard side cases and a top case topped by a factory luggage rack.
Our Test Ride!
The first quality that comes to mind when I climb aboard the Spyder F3 Limited Special Series is comfort. The riding position is very relaxed and especially pleasant. The foot placement is also extremely well designed, providing excellent ergonomics.
The handlebar and grips are positioned to keep the rider’s elbows at roughly 90 degrees, an ideal posture for riding, especially when planning to cover long distances. From the first few kilometres, it is clear that the F3 Limited was designed to provide the rider with maximum comfort.
For a rider around 5 ft 10 in, the windshield does its job very well. It directs the airflow over the rider’s head, making the ride more pleasant with very little turbulence, even at higher speeds, particularly on the highway.
However, taller riders may want to consider a taller windshield to obtain optimal wind protection.
The air suspension performs extremely well. Whether you are riding solo or two-up, the automatic levelling system adjusts the suspension to keep the vehicle within the shocks’ optimal operating range. The result: handling remains stable and comfortable, regardless of the load on board.
Fuel consumption ranged from 7 to 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres during our test period. We covered more than 2,000 kilometres with the vehicle, and these figures accurately reflect what we observed.
Of course, fuel consumption can vary considerably depending on your riding style. The harder you accelerate and the more aggressively you roll on the throttle, the more fuel the vehicle will use. Conversely, a smoother riding style and gentler throttle inputs can easily improve fuel economy.
Overall, for a machine of this size powered by the Rotax 1330 ACE engine, we consider fuel consumption of 7 to 7.5 L/100 km entirely reasonable.
