The 2022 Yamaha VK540 is known for its durability, reliability and boldness. Its simple 2-stroke engine with a warmed-up carburetor combines with both manual and electric starting to ensure this workhorse can go with you no matter how deep the mercury column gets. Its 20-inch wide track with 1.5-inch lugs bites into the snow with gusto, while the transmission’s hi/lo range and reverse gearing provide welcome versatility. The VK540 is a favorite of snowmobilers in remote areas, and with good reason: it’s a Yamaha – reliable, pure and simple.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A proven 540cc 2-stroke twin-cylinder engine gives life to this archrival utility snowmobile. Yamaha engineers took the legendary 540cc Yamaha engine, improved mid-range torque and reduced fuel consumption by about 25% to create the new engine. It’s more efficient than its predecessor and meets today’s emission standards. It’s just as reliable as its predecessor.
  • The heated Mikuni TM33 carburetor with flat spool delivers crisp throttle response. Two small electronic heating coils integrated into the throttle body stabilize idle speed and reduce spark plug fouling. This highly efficient carburetor helps deliver excellent fuel efficiency and reliability.
  • The VK540 lights its way with a dual-bulb headlight. It sweeps the trail with a wider beam of light than the single-bulb headlight of the past, and blends in perfectly with the overall profile of the snowmobile.
  • The VK540 uses a multi-coil ring stator to produce more than twice the electrical current as the original model. Its 400-watt output is used to power the new heated carburetors, new dual-bulb headlight, heated grips and other accessories.
  • Enjoy a longer range and a much greater work capacity, thanks to the large tank that can swallow 44 liters of gasoline. This means the eco-friendly engine can go almost twice the distance without refueling.

2022 Yamaha VK540 – PERFORMANCE

  • One minute the Hi/Lo range transmission with reverse is a workhorse, the next minute it’s a real all-rounder on the trail. Just move the lever to switch from the “normal” range (Hi) for fun rides to the low range (Lo) for towing heavy loads.
  • Yamaha engineers have fine-tuned the pulley calibration to maximize the VK’s capabilities, while keeping the utility application of the snowmobile in mind. The result is smooth pulley engagement without sacrificing overall performance.
  • The reliable Cobra track measuring 20 x 154 x 1.5 inches is a perfect match for traction and durability. Its 1.5-inch bars bite into deep snow with gusto and are tough enough to withstand the stresses of rough, hard-packed terrain.

2022 Yamaha VK540 – MANIABILITY

  • Telescopic struts are the ultimate solution for deep snow travel and lasting simplicity.
  • Wide skis increase off-trail flotation, while the high-tech keel provides predictable handling and obedient steering.

2022 Yamaha VK540 – COMFORT

  • This fully-coupled, dual-amorto suspension uses a simple and effective torsion spring controlled by a lever. By simply moving the lever, the suspension can be adjusted for solo or accompanied rides, or for light or heavy loads. A 40mm high-pressure gas (GHP) shock absorber is an exceptional control mechanism, offering great resistance to sagging and maximizing work capabilities.
  • The high-intensity LED tail/brake light is lighter and brighter than a traditional incandescent bulb light, and it lasts considerably longer, too.
  • The mirrors reflect a wide field of vision, making it easy for the snowmobiler to see what’s going on behind the machine. These mirrors are mounted inside the windshield and are protected from damage.
  • Large holes in the track housing evacuate snow from the running boards. This housing is made of lightweight high-strength steel to maintain the legendary durability of the VK540, which works hard in often unforgiving conditions.
  • A wrap-around windshield, both wide and high, provides excellent protection from the elements and branches littering the trails. It was tested in a wind tunnel to refine the design to reduce annoying negative vortices and create more shelter for rider and passenger comfort.
  • Rain or shine, the easy-to-use electric starter activates instantly and hassle-free, and is backed up by a manual recoil starter to provide much-needed peace of mind when you’re off the beaten path.
  • In addition to the myriad of on-board convenience features and built-in storage, the VK comes with a factory-installed tow hitch on the back of the sled. It’s ready to haul your day’s gear or do some tricky work.
  • With its articulating seat, the VK540 speaks volumes about its work ethic. The large storage area under the seat holds a tool kit and plenty of other items as well.
