Yamaha’s Transporter Lite is the affordable, obedient utility snowmobile you can always count on. Mountain skis, a 146-inch Camso Cobra track with 1.6-inch bars, a sturdy rear rack, a fuel-injected 397cc two-stroke engine and an electric starter… what more could you ask for? This workhorse is definitely practical like no other! Its small size and light weight make it an ideal sidekick for riding in narrow lanes far from groomed trails.

HIGHLIGHTS

This new 397cc high-tech engine boasts all the features you’d expect from a top-of-the-line snowmobile, including computerized ignition system (ECM), three-stage power boost valve in the exhaust port, battery-less fuel injection, electronic oil injection, and electric starter, just to name a few. The tuned exhaust pipe, enhanced with an exhaust detonation temperature sensor and a detonation sensor, ensures reliable performance. The lightweight crankshaft balance flywheel dampens unpleasant vibrations to deliver a wide range of power smoothly.

The sensor monitors cylinder vibration and communicates to the ECM if there is combustion accompanied by detonation caused by improper fuel metering or poor running conditions. In such cases, the ECM adjusts the ignition timing to prevent engine damage.

Yamaha minimized the number of parts in the design of the new alloy chassis to reduce weight without compromising durability or functionality

The CVTech Trailbloc drive pulley joins the CVTech Invance driven pulley to ensure reliable clutch operation at low temperatures.

The small diameter bearing allows the belt to sit lower in the primary drive pulley, resulting in an extremely low first gear ratio. This also creates a higher gear ratio in the secondary pulley, allowing every last drop of juice to be extracted from the compact engine.

At a glance on the digital dashboard, the rider knows the speed of his machine, the engine speed, the fuel level, the hours of operation and the distance traveled. Warning lights also alert the rider to low oil or abnormal engine temperatures.

The rear suspension provides a long travel of 12.5 inches and uses a spring-loaded, articulated rear section that allows the rear support wheels to move upward in an arc. This means that when the snowmobile travels on trails with cascading bumps, it behaves much like a snowmobile with a shorter track. This joint also helps the Transporter Lite move in reverse, as it helps lead the track over the snow, rather than digging into it.

PERFORMANCE

Boost valves adjust the exhaust port opening based on engine speed to maximize peak torque and optimize fuel efficiency throughout the powerband.

Electronic fuel injection delivers fuel very efficiently to two injection points in the cylinder, depending on engine speed, maximizing torque and throttle response. Computer-controlled fuel injection provides reliable cold weather starting, maximizes range and delivers low exhaust emissions.

The rugged Hayes “Stealth” hydraulic brake master cylinder is paired with the Stealth composite brake lever to provide excellent modulation, feel and braking power.

The compact engine tips the scales at only 22.7 kg (50 lbs), meaning it has plenty of energy to spare with its class-leading power-to-weight ratio.

Thanks to its apron and heat exchangers on the track housing – all made of alloy, the engine keeps its cool, even when things get hot!

MANIABILITY

Yamaha’s lightweight mountain skis deliver everything you need to waltz through deep snow. Their large 7″ (17.8 cm) footprint helps increase lift and actively raises the front section of the snowmobile when gliding through deep powder. Traction bars on the top of the skis provide a solid footing when the ride gets really rough. The unique keel design translates into effortless steering and predictable handling – in both fresh powder and hardpack.

The 11.4 cm (4.5″) handlebar-mounted flange places the J-tips on the handles and the climbing strap within easy reach, whether the rider is sitting or standing.

Derived from the streamlined SRV-M front suspension, this new lightweight, ultra-compact design reduces annoying drag from spindles and suspension components in deep snow. Neutral spacing allows for great maneuverability in tight terrain and predictable trail riding. Lightweight forged aluminum stub axles combine with generously curved upper and lower delta arms to provide a wide caster angle that’s ideal for attacking tight turns and easy steering.

This unique feature allows the rear track to lock into place, maximizing track length on trails when extra traction is needed.

It’s almost like a return to the past… A modern snowmobile with the weight of a 30-year-old fan-cooled snowmobile opens up a new era of functionality and fun.

CONFORT

To restart the engine and shift into reverse, simply push a button. The back-up alarm sounds once you’re in reverse, and the warning tone continues to sound until you push the button again to turn off the ignition and start moving forward. It’s a simple, lightweight and effective way to get out of a tight spot.

An adjustable handlebar and heating elements in the throttle are standard.

The 44-liter fuel tank, coupled with the fuel-injected engine that sips gas, means you travel far between fill-ups.

The rear rack is a solid platform for all kinds of equipment.

The electric starter combines with electronic fuel injection to bring the snowmobile to life every time, fast as a flash, in a myriad of conditions.

The 15.5″ high deflector is designed to protect the rider with its sculpted, flared profile.

The seat is shaped to facilitate the transition from sitting to standing. The seat’s tapered edges also make it easier for the rider to move sideways, which increases maneuverability – both on the beaten path and in the great outdoors. Finally, the passenger seat is available as an option for two-up riding!
