BRP introduces the Ski-Doo MXZx 600RS 2017 Advances racing snowmobile, specifically designed to take the North American snocross circuit by storm. The snowmobile will feature a reworked clutch, an improved progressive coupling system and an upgraded slip pinion, a package of modifications that improves starts, acceleration, traction and durability.

The 2016 MXZx 600RS model had already undergone improvements that made it more capable in all aspects of snocross competition, with major engine modifications, a new pDrive drive pulley, and an exclusive coupling system, all while maintaining the MXZ’s renowned remarkable cornering and mogul capabilities. The new 2017 version goes even further. This snowmobile is the foundation on which the Open Mod snocross snowmobiles that have won 2nd, 3rd and 4th place on the ISOC National Snocross Tour are built.

Combined with the clutch refinement, the improved coupling system provides explosive starts and instant response in snocross turns and craters. The changes are also aimed at increasing the reliability of the most durable snocross snowmobiles available, with the goal of reducing costs and providing worry-free performance.

The Rotax engine features a proven cylinder design, engineered using a close tolerance manufacturing process to maximize power and consistency. In addition, the crankshaft, drive pulley and stator reduce inertia for faster response. The powerplant also features a highly efficient Y-pipe, specially fitted to match the cylinder, and a lightweight exhaust pipe. The engine provides high revs and robust, sustained power from the clutch to the 8,000 rpm redline on the tachometer.

Designed to reduce friction, decrease weight and provide tighter tolerances, the pDrive ensures consistent engine revolutions, reduces maintenance and increases service life. To accomplish this, the pDrive racing drive pulley features unique elements such as fast, frictionless dual rollers to transfer engine torque instead of traditional knobs, BRP’s exclusive adjustable pawls, larger rollers with a needle bearing and a compact open design.

Summary of the news

New clutch calibration: pDrive: 14 mm weight on the pivot, firmer spring for higher engagement of 230-435 instead of 200-380, new pawl position.

Driven pulley: 74-44×0.40 cam replaces the 64-44×0.40 cam.

Progressive coupling: Better fit, improved operation and increased reliability for explosive starts.

Sliding gear: Improved tolerances and production to provide greater stability and smoother engagement.
