In the world of motorcycling, if there’s one accessory that’s often underestimated, it’s the bag. We choose it at the last minute, buying it and thinking, “It’ll do the job.” Then you get frustrated when the zippers break or the waterproofing barely lasts through a light rain shower. That’s where the Oxford M4R comes in: a small, compact but surprisingly practical 4-liter bag that promises to carry your essentials without fuss. And believe me, for such an inconspicuous accessory, it has a lot of character.
Small size, big ambitions
As soon as you take it out of the packaging, the M4R impresses with its build quality. The outer fabric is made of tear-proof 420 D nylon, which is lightweight yet durable and inspires confidence. Waterproof and dustproof, it is made for the worst conditions. We tested it on a ride in the rain between Lachute and Rivière-Du-Loup, and nothing got through. Not a drop. Even our spare socks stayed as dry as a bone.
The 4-liter size may seem modest at first glance, but that’s what makes the M4R so versatile. It’s perfect for carrying small essentials: tools, spare gloves, phone, wallet, glasses, snacks… or a good old egg sandwich if you feel like it.
Simple and effective attachment
The attachment system is another plus point. The M4R comes with adjustable straps and quick-release buckles, making it easy to install. It has a magnetic base that sticks to the fuel tank. It fits anywhere and blends in well with any type of motorcycle—whether you ride a naked bike, a trail bike, or even a custom bike, it won’t clash with your motorcycle’s style.
On the road: discreet and practical
What we loved was how unobtrusive the M4R is when attached to the bike. It doesn’t move, it doesn’t flap in the wind, and it doesn’t interfere with access to the seat. Even at high speeds, it stays securely in place, which is reassuring when you’re carrying your precious contents.
Another plus point is the price. For around $150-170, you get a compact, well-designed and frankly durable bag. It’s not cheap, but you can tell it’s a product that will last you a long time.
Strengths
- Ultra versatile: attaches as needed.
- Weatherproof: waterproof finish = peace of mind.
- Ideal size for essentials: compact enough to be discreet, large enough to be useful.
Points to improve
- Limited capacity: 4 liters is fine for the essentials, but forget about it for a full weekend. Does not expand.
- Magnetic attachment: convenient, but requires special attention to dust to avoid scratching the tank.
Verdict: small bag, big utility
The Oxford M4R is a bit like a Swiss Army knife for motorcyclists. It’s no bigger than my girlfriend’s purses, but it’s always there when you need it. Lightweight, sturdy, well designed, it’s for those who like to travel light… or those who just need a reliable bag for everyday riding.
In short, it’s an excellent little bag that gets the job done and could well become your new road companion. Because deep down, we all know it’s not the size that counts, it’s the usefulness!
