20th Anniversary of the Lynx RAVE RE!
In 2027, the RAVE RE, or Racing Edition, models celebrate their 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Lynx has clearly pulled out all the stops.
Visually, the number 20 appears directly on the front hood, just as it did in 2007! The period colours have been retained: red, black and white.
But looks aren’t the whole story…
New 600 RR Engine
Lynx brings its racing engine to a production snowmobile! This new 600 RR engine incorporates several features directly inspired by the engine used in competition.
Auxiliary injectors have been added, as on the 850 and 850 Turbo engines, improving throttle response.
The cylinders are also new, with a larger-diameter exhaust and redesigned transfer ports. These changes allow the engine to rev 150 rpm higher and produce approximately 5 additional horsepower, for a claimed maximum output of 130 horsepower.
Another important change is the cylinders’ new plasma-applied coating. Its greater porosity helps retain oil on the cylinder surface, contributing to an approximately 20% reduction in oil consumption.
The new XPS E-TEC Max oil will be the preferred lubricant.
Eco Mode
This is a first for 2027 on a Ski-Doo two-stroke engine.
Eco Mode softens throttle response and makes power delivery more progressive. According to BRP, this reduces fuel consumption by approximately 5%.
Unlike four-stroke engines, on which Eco Mode limits maximum power, the 600 RR retains all 130 horsepower. Simply press the throttle fully to let the engine reach maximum rpm.
Silent Mode
Already used for several years in the automotive world, Silent Stop Mode now appears on the new 600 RR.
Operation is particularly simple: when the brake lever is held for more than two seconds, the engine shuts off automatically.
The engine remains off while the lever is held. As soon as you release the brake, the engine restarts automatically.
This is a useful feature when you want to reduce noise during a stop, particularly in situations where a little more peace and quiet is welcome.
A Little More Sound
The new 600 RR also receives an exhaust recalibrated for the engine’s additional 150 rpm.
Its sound is now slightly racier and closer to that of the snocross competition model.
XPS Max Oil
A new oil has also been developed for the 600 RR engine.
XPS E-TEC Max adheres more effectively to the cylinder wall, improving its protective performance. We are also told that it offers greater resistance to degradation.
This oil will not cost more than the well-known XPS synthetic oil.
Heated Brake Lever
Finally, a heated brake lever will be available as an option exclusively on models equipped with the new 600 RR engine.
It is a small touch that could be especially appreciated on long winter rides, as it helps keep your fingers warm throughout the day.
