NEW Rotax 600RR E-TEC Engine

Rotax customer and full-on 600cc race engines have always shared a common platform – but this year they get even closer as the mass production engine gets pumped-up to 130hp, thanks to the boost injectors that add five horsepower on the top end and much quicker acceleration throughout the RPM range. Other changes include a new exhaust system and intake tract that support the performance gains and provide a signature sound that’s both powerful and respectfully pleasing. Riders looking for more of everything in a middle displacement 2-stroke powered snowmobile can get it this year – class-leading power output, improved acceleration, better fuel and oil economy plus cutting-edge technology that enhances the experience.
- 5 more horsepower at 8,250 RPM to reach 130hp and 20% faster throttle response
- Revised cylinder porting and higher RPM (+150RPM)
- Booster injectors from the 850 E-TEC Turbo R, 850 E-TEC and 600RS E-TEC enable faster RPM and power gains and a higher final output
- New ‘thin shaft with embedded bolts’ in throttle bodies increase intake flow
- NEW signature sound
- New Intake tract with more surface area lets it breathe
- Revised muffler and tuned pipe are less restrictive while maintaining compliance
- 20% less oil use – Thanks to the NEW XPS E-TEC M.A.X oil and Rotax optimized pistons and cylinder – calibration is adjusted for cleaner burning and less oil use, saving on operating costs.
- NEW Silent-Stop and Smart ECO modes bring benefits all riders will appreciate – not just the economy-minded ones
- Smart ECO Mode – This isn’t the ECO mode you’re used to seeing on other products – it’s a whole new dynamic created by performance riders to answer what they’d want in an ECO mode. You can keep up with the group and still use less fuel and oil. Smart Eco mode maximizes fuel/air ratios from the E-TEC and booster injectors, plus controls the RAVE system to deliver better economy. Increased power is available immediately on demand with the throttle, then returns to the optimal setting automatically.
- 5% better fuel economy
- 5% less emissions
- Silent-Stop lets riders communicate with each other easily when coming to a stop or simply listen to the environment around them. You can pull up to fellow riders at a stop, hold the brake lever, lean over to discuss the awesome trail just ridden, then release the brake and you’re on the way again. Simple. Effective.
- Is automatically active in ECO mode and can be added in Sport mode.
- In Sport mode, Silent-Stop is turned on and off through the gauge and stays that way until changed, use it only when you want.
- Activated with the brake lever, when the vehicle is completely stopped, engine re-starts when brake is released.

Celebrating 20 years of X-RS

When the first X-RS models were introduced in 2007 they were hailed as the sleds that brought race technology directly from the track to everyone. This is what riders were demanding; give them the absolute best components for high-performance riding. The X-RS answered that and has for the past 20 years.
There’s no substitute for the intense development that happens in racing – as riders push their limits, they find areas for improvement faster than anyone. Our product teams had been using this test bed for many years to develop high-performance features that slowly got deployed – but the X-RS crystallized those all at once. Truth is that this was what the product team members would build for themselves at night in their garages – the best components in each system, calibrated to work in harmony. When the project was green-lighted, they already knew the recipe and the rest is history.

The 20th Anniversary X-RS packages on Renegade and Backcountry models will have unique Circuit Yellow coloration and some tailored design touches, such as the new Evo Stinger badges, celebrating this milestone – they already have the best components everywhere else! The MXZ, the closest to the championship-winning Ski-Doo snocross sled, will get the same color and design elements but also adds the Racing Integral Base Valve shocks that feature rebound plus high and low speed compression damping adjustments.
Freeride and Summit models lose weight, gain performance
For 2027, the deep snow Summit and Freeride models continue to get lighter as the Freeride models drop as much as 14 pounds of wet weight, while the Summit Expert loses another 4 pounds for a total of 12 lbs over the last 2 model years.
The Freeride and Summit Expert models both benefit from changes introduced on the 2026 Summit X; the S module that reduced weight by 1.5 pounds, the forged aluminum upper a-arms shaving half a pound, and the tMotion L/O with coil over rear suspension that drops another 1.5 pounds – the coil-over design will be used on every 2027 deep snow model, whether using a fixed or pivoting rear arm, including all In-season models except the Neo.

Freeride sleds lose up to 14 pounds wet weight

The Freeride 146 becomes the Freeride 147 when choosing a 3-inch lug height with a completely new track that changes to a 3.5-inch pitch to match 154-inch version – the result of this industry-first 147×3.0-inch track is a massive rotating weight reduction that gives riders even quicker reaction to their inputs, adds monstrous traction and makes their ride easier. When choosing the 2.5-inch lug the track length remains 146-inches.

There’s more too. The development team has been consulting numerous extreme riders, including Ski-Doo ambassadors Nik Pahno, Steve Martin, and Oscar Nordström, to ensure the 2027 configuration reflects their thoughts on what the ideal Freeride should be. The result, all track lengths will use the super-short tunnels with the shorter radiator introduced on 2026 Summit spring-only models, along with the Twin Link steering system, a 34-inch ski stance and the Ultra-compact seat. These changes, plus the S module, aluminum upper a-arms and coil-over rear suspension (using a KYB Pro 40 shock) mentioned previously, reduce weight up to 14 pounds. Topping off the changes are the shorter 90mm riser, steering pad and the adjustable limiter strap that lets the rider choose between a party mode (long position) to pull off the craziest wheelies and tricks, and a business mode (short position) when things get serious and maximum traction is needed to exit that steep and deep chute.

Summit Adrenaline and Summit Edge align with different uses
In 2027, the in-season Summit Adrenaline and Summit Edge will differentiate themselves and align with different riding preferences and styles by using distinctive key features carefully selected to match those riding characteristics.
The Adrenaline will be more like the Summit X, which targets lightweight, playfulness and ultimate agility for ease of riding. New this year is the change to a 34-inch front suspension, a short tunnel and a Compact DS Seat.. In keeping with the effortless attitude and ease to initiate sidehill manoeuvers of the X and previous Adrenalines, it uses the new tMotion X Coil-over rear suspension, introduced in 2026 on the X package, the FlexEdge track and the Pilot DS-3 skis. These changes really elevate the experience, making deep snow exploring easier for riders of any skill level and letting them enjoy longer days with less fatigue.
The Summit Edge takes a different approach and aligns more with the behavior of the Summit Expert where riders seek precise and predictable technical riding in the gnarliest terrain. New for 2027 will be the DS-4 skis, a full-rod track and the new tMotion L/O (Lock Out) Coil-over rear suspension. These features let riders willing to sacrifice some ease of use for a sled that provides great confidence and holds its line in those challenging conditions meet their perfect ride. Whether traversing steep sidehills or picking through the tight trees, this is an animal that will get you exactly where you want to go.
